Foothill Welcome

A once-ordinary lawn becomes a water-wise front yard that grounds the home in its mountain setting.

This small front yard began as a familiar sight—a broad expanse of lawn, green but underwhelming. Our client wanted something more purposeful: a landscape that reflected their values, reduced water use, and created a stronger connection to the surrounding foothills.

We replaced turf with a curated palette of drought-tolerant plants that offer year-round interest. A custom aluminum planter centers the space, featuring a graceful weeping tree that draws the eye and softens the geometry of the architecture.

Natural stone paths and boulders provide both form and function, creating a sense of movement and a stronger visual link to the mountains. The result is a front yard that feels both grounded and welcoming—a thoughtful introduction to the home and a clear departure from the conventional.
